Remembering David Malouf

We are sad to announce the death of David Malouf, who passed away peacefully on 22nd April 2026, aged 92.

Born in Brisbane in 1934, David Malouf joined Deborah Rogers at RCW in 1988 and the agency represented him for almost forty years. He was an extraordinary person, kind, thoughtful and generous as well as being a brilliant and adored writer of fiction, non fiction and poetry. He leaves a legacy of enduring and outstanding prize-winning and truly remarkable works. His novel The Great World won the Miles Franklin Award, The Commonwealth Writers Award and the Prix Femina Etranger in 1991 and Remembering Babylon was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1993 and won the inaugural International  Dublin Literary Award in 1996. He was awarded the Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature in 2016. 

His agent, Peter Straus said "I felt honoured to know him and to work with him as his agent for the last decade."
