Biography

Eva Figes (1932-2012) was a novelist, social critic and translator. She was born in Berlin and came to England with her family just before the outbreak of the Second World War; they moved to London, where Figes would stay for there rest of her life.

Figes' non-fiction includes the feminist classic, Patriarchal Attitudes, Sex and Subterfuge: Women Writers to 1850, and she was the editor of Women's letters in Wartime: 1450-1945

Her many novels include Waking, Light, Ghosts and Nelly's Version
