Alexander Masters is this year’s winner of the Biographers' Club Prize for an Exceptional Contribution to Biography.
Alexander Masters’ prize-winning Stuart: A Life Backwards, is the story of Stuart Shorter, a homeless man living in Cambridge. This bestselling biography created a lot of buzz when it was first published by 4th Estate in 2005, winning the Guardian First Book Award and Whitbread Book of the Year 2005 in the Biography category. He also adapted his book into a television program for the BBC and HBO, starring Tom Hardy as Shorter and Benedict Cumberbatch as Masters.
