Aimée Walsh

Biography

Aimée Walsh’s debut novel, Exile, was published in 2024 in the UK by John Murray Press to critical acclaim. She is in the final stages of completing her second novel.

Short stories by Walsh have appeared in Extra Teeth and been longlisted for the London Magazine Short Story Prize. A work of short fiction has been commissioned by BBC Short Works for audio production on BBC Radio 4. It will air in 2026.

Walsh holds a PhD in Irish Literature and Cultural History from Liverpool John Moores University. Her research has been published in the Journal of Gender Studies and in a monograph, Writing Resistance in Northern Ireland, published by Liverpool University Press.

Currently, she is a Columnist and Deputy Editor at the Mirror newspaper. Her cultural commentary – specifically her work on misogyny and her interview with Bonnie Blue – was recognised by the Society of Editors in 2025, when she was shortlisted for Commentator of the Year at the Media Freedom Awards.

At the Mirror, Walsh led an investigation and presented on camera a three-part documentary series on an online suicide forum and the poison promoted on it titled ‘Buy to Die’. For this, she interviewed bereaved families as well as a survivor. She has since become a ‘face of The Mirror’ in presenting news pieces to camera across social media and digital platforms.

She has also written for The Observer, The Irish Times, RTÉ, The Independent, Dua Lipa’s Service95 as well as other national and international publications.
