Aaron Taylor
Biography
Aaron Taylor is a barrister and academic specialising in art & cultural property law. He is currently working on his first book, about fraud, fakes and financial crime in the global art market.
Aaron studied history at the University of Bristol (First; top of year), before reading for an accelerated second degree in law at St Edmund’s College Cambridge (Double First) and a postgraduate degree in law at Keble College, Oxford (Distinction).
Aaron is a Fellow-Commoner of Magdalene College, Cambridge, and teaches art & cultural property law as a visiting lecturer at the London School of Economics. He has published widely in academic legal journals, writes the chapter on civil bribery for the leading practitioner text on bribery law, and sits on the Editorial Board of the specialist journal Art, Antiquity and Law. His academic writing has been cited by the UK Supreme Court. Aaron was awarded a 2023 Churchill Fellowship to support his research.
Much of Aaron’s practice at the Bar concerns art & cultural property, civil fraud, or both of the above. He has acted for collectors, galleries, artists and their estates, and law enforcement authorities. He is appointed to the UK Serious Fraud Office’s panel of junior counsel for international proceeds of crime cases. He is ranked in both major directories as a leading junior for art & cultural property law, amongst other fields.
