Roy Porter
Biography
Roy Sydney Porter (1946 - 2002) was a British historian noted for his prolific work on the history of medicine. He retired in 2001 from the director of the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine at University College, London. Upon his death a year later, he was eulogised in the British Medical Journal as "the greatest medical historian of his generation".
