PJ Harrison

Biography

P.J. Harrison is an author whose work is rooted in a lifelong fascination with stories of ordinary people who achieve extraordinary things—and the landscapes that shape them. Born in Merseyside to a coalminer father and a mother working in social care, Harrison grew up in an environment where work, community, and resilience were part of everyday life. These early influences instilled in him a deep respect for working-class culture and a lasting curiosity about the lives of others.

That curiosity has become the foundation of his career. Harrison has worked with to a spectrum of individuals, from global hip hop legends to international sports stars, as well as everyday individuals whose stories might otherwise go untold. His work consistently seeks out the human thread that connects them—exploring how people from different backgrounds navigate ambition, identity, and circumstance.

Central to Harrison’s practice is a commitment to storytelling as a collaborative act. His work is built on genuine connections, and helping people articulate their own experiences. Much of his work reflects his belief that the most compelling stories often emerge from overlooked places.

Alongside his writing, Harrison has developed a strong body of work in audio, where his instinct for voice, rhythm, and narrative finds a natural home. He approaches audio storytelling not simply as a medium, but as an intimate space—one that allows for intimate connection between speaker and listener. His work in audio includes chart topping albums and podcasts.

His broader creative background features TV and film productions (presenter of a US network show/director of concert films for global rap stars). Additionally he worked closely with Adidas to help form their Football communities initiative, which focused storytelling and resources on disadvantaged groups. During his time living in Los Angeles Harrison established a free access football club for disadvantaged youths. Across these formats, a consistent theme runs through his work: an interest in class, culture, and the social dynamics that shape modern society.

Harrison’s writing is defined by its empathy, curiosity, and clarity of observation. Whether documenting well-known figures or uncovering lesser-heard voices, his aim remains the same—to understand people, and to tell their stories with honesty and care.

Harrison...goes further than most in getting to the core of who the Gallaghers are  -Shaun Curran, TheiPaper

Harrison writes with evocative lyricism. Bending others worlds into a feeling that perhaps they were once your own. He battles the nuance of emotional weight to get to the grit of the truth that leaves you all the wiser on the importance of both. A truly beautiful storyteller and writer. -Charly Cox, author of Validate Me
