Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett
Biography
Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett was born in London, raised in Wales, and has lived in France and Italy. She now lives in North London with her husband, her son, and her cat, Mackerel.
Her debut novel, The Tyranny of Lost Things, is a gothic housing crisis novel set in a former London commune, exploring trauma, memory, and the false promise of the hippie movement. Her second, Female, Nude, takes place on a Greek Island and looks at questions of motherhood, female desire, art, and class struggle.
She is also the author of The Republic of Parenthood, a collection of her writing on motherhood, and a memoir, The Year of the Cat, which takes place over the year of the pandemic and chronicles her longing for a child while caring for an adopted kitten, as well as exploring art, femininity, and the special bond between women and cats.
She has written a column for The Guardian since her mid-twenties, reviews fiction there, and also writes for a range of other publications, including British Vogue.
