Biography
Constantine P. Cavafy (1863 - 1933) was born in Alexandria, Egypt to Greek parents. He was an a poet, journalist, and civil servant with a consciously individual style that has earned him a place not only among the most important figures in Greek poetry, but in Western poetry as well.
Cavafy wrote 154 poems, while dozens more remained incomplete or in sketch form at the time of his death.
