Biography

Alex Howlett is a London-based author, journalist and investigator. As a producer with Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit, she worked on award-winning investigations covering sexual misconduct at British universities, gold smuggling gangs in South Africa and the mishandling of Islamophobia complaints in the UK’s Labour Party. Her writing has additionally appeared in the Financial Times, Times Literary Supplement and Service95, among other outlets. Her first co-authored non-fiction book, ‘Wander Women: Tales of transgressions in a bordered world’, was published by Hurst in 2022 and described as “a searing examination of human mobility at the margins”. She has been a speaker and moderator at multiple events across museums, universities and bookshops, including Oxford University, the Migration Museum, Pimlico Library and the Feminist Library. She now works across press and investigations at the Environmental Justice Foundation. Her first book FEMINAUTICA will be published by Head of Zeus (UK) and Norton (US).
