Biography

A.L. Kennedy is author of multiple novels, short stories, non-fiction works, essays, dramas, radio plays and documentaries and TV and film dramas. She has received various UK and international awards, including the Costa Prize, the Austrian State Prize for Literature, a Lannan Foundation award and the Heinrich Heine Prize. She has twice been listed among Granta’s Top Novelists under 40. She is now over 40. She is also a vocal performer, radio narrator and performs occasionally in one person shows and as a stand-up comedian. She plays the banjo, enjoys kayaking and mostly lives in the Highlands of Scotland. She does not own a Luwak, or possess any expertise in the keeping of Luwaks, despite assertions on Wikipedia to the contrary.
