Katya Balen

Biography

 Katya Balen is an author whose novels have won some of the most prestigious children’s literary awards, including the Carnegie medal, the Carnegie Shadowers’ Choice medal, the UKLA Prize, The Indie Book Award and the Wainwright Prize. Before becoming an author, Katya studied at Oxford and Cambridge, and then worked in social care, special schools and a children’s hospice. She lives in London with her partner and their son.
